One in four people across the United States is living with some degree of mental illness every day. These are your family members, friends, coworkers, teachers, sales clerks. You interact with them every day, in your regular routine. Most people don’t vocalize their illness, as they are ashamed and afraid of the stigma and discrimination that may occur, preventing them from taking advantage of services and supports that are available to them from agencies across the country.
4.6 million people are living with an intellectual disability every day. They too are subjected to discrimination and the stigma that deters them from vocalizing their condition and taking advantage of the resources that are available to them from agencies across the country.
The Wyoming County Special Needs Association is one of the many agencies across the country providing those services and supports. We dedicated our entire organization to enhancing the empowerment of individuals with mental health, intellectual disabilities, and autism. Our organization provides a wide array of services, the consumers in our local area as well as surrounding counties within the Commonwealth. These services and supports that assist consumers with day to day living, and help to reduce the stigma that these consumers face every day. We provide the following services to increase the supports and services of consumers within our coverage area.
